There’s been a big increase in recent years of street food style eateries serving traditional Asian chai and nashta (tea and snacks). Chaiwala is perhaps the most well-known example with many branches across the UK and new independent places often mirroring their example. The Karak chai is the signature drink offered at Chaiiwala and similar stores.
Karak chai is a traditional Asian style tea made with Indian spices and milk. It is brewed on the stove for a long time making the tea stronger, creamy and sweet with a tinge of cardamom and ginger. It’s really delicious.
I’m an Asian ... (Read more)
We’ve got a nice growing collection of cleaning product reviews on the website here. If you’ve read my previous posts on the popular Method products, you may know that motherhood has spurred me to purchase more eco-friendly and less toxic and chemical-laden cleaning products.
Like a lot of people, we’ve always tended to use Fairy washing up liquid. It’s that bog standard option that we never really question. I have tried cheaper options in the past and they never clean as well or last as long. Fairy really does get the job done and is usually always on offer ... (Read more)
Hi, all, it’s Mrs Reviews back again from the rabbit hole that is life with 2 under 2’s. Chronically tired, forever multi-tasking, and usually covered in baby sick or toddler food stains. Lovely! I’m here today reviewing another baby product as promised in my last post.
This time I’m reviewing the Graco All soother. As mentioned in my last post, having learned the hard way with my first son, with this baby I wanted to be prepared for another possible velcro baby with lots of different soothers. We had a rough patch a few weeks ago during a developmental leap ... (Read more)
One of the exciting milestones we waited for with our son was when he would finally be able to taste food. We followed current guidance from medical boards, such as the NHS and waited until 6 months to start weaning. In true First-Time-Mum fashion, I spent weeks and weeks researching the best first foods for babies, good recipes and combinations to try all in a bid to give him the best nutritional start in life and to try and foster a good relationship with food. I decided to go with traditional weaning with a little bit of finger foods here ... (Read more)
I’ve raved on this blog previously about how much I loved the Shnuggle bath. It was an absolute game changer for me as baby bath time was something I had been unreasonably nervous about whilst I was pregnant. I had seen many a family member precariously supporting a newborn baby’s head and neck whilst bathing them. Even older babies would slip unless very carefully supported. However with the Shnuggle bath, I felt confident bathing our son right from the newborn stage. The more inclined positioning of the bath meant he could sit up himself from birth with just a little ... (Read more)
If you’ve read my previous post on the Popular Method Anti Bacterial spray, you would know that since motherhood, I have become more conscious of the cleaning products I use on a daily basis. The idea of touching my pure baby after being in contact with harsh chemicals was enough to make me spend a little bit more money on more non-toxic cleaning products rather than buying the cheap supermarket products as I had always done.
I’m not perfect and I can’t claim to use all non toxic products for the whole house but I’m making small changes here ... (Read more)
I’ve always been a lover of international foods and cuisines. It’s been a bit of a dream of mine to travel to different countries around the world, and though I can’t really say that I’ve achieved that dream thus far, I do feel that by trying different cuisines you can get a sense of different cultures without having to step out of your home.
For a long time, I loved to explore Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods but since marrying Mr Reviews a few years ago, I’ve been cooking a lot more East Asian foods, as it is one of ... (Read more)
In the second post in my series, I’m back with another post on an item I purchased through an Instagram advert. Last time, I reviewed eco-friendly laundry capsules from Smol which were delivered through your postbox. I thought the Instagram algorithm had done pretty well to target me as a mum of a small child who always seems to have endless piles of laundry to do these days.
The next product I was targeted with, where daily contact lenses from a company called Hubble. Again, Instagram was quite spot on with targetting me for the ad as I have been ... (Read more)
As our little one has now turned 1 years old, I can’t keep on wondering where the time has gone. He is definitely no longer the small fragile baby we bought home from the hospital and loves to explore and jump around. As a first time mum, I can’t help but be filled with nostalgia as I reflect back on those early days, now almost a blurry haze of excitement, worrying and of course lots of sleepless nights! No matter how much research you do, nothing can really prepare you for a baby until they’re here. Some items I thought ... (Read more)
I’ve always loved to read. In fact, when I was in my penultimate year in high school, I was presented with an award in front of my peers and friends for reading the most books in the entire school – much to my teenage mortification. Now several years on, having worked with children in the education sector in various formats, I am keenly aware of the importance reading makes to a child’s development across all aspects. So when I became a parent, I knew I wanted to incorporate reading from as early as possible, even if he didn’t understand me ... (Read more)
