As our little one has now turned 1 years old, I can’t keep on wondering where the time has gone. He is definitely no longer the small fragile baby we bought home from the hospital and loves to explore and jump around. As a first time mum, I can’t help but be filled with nostalgia as I reflect back on those early days, now almost a blurry haze of excitement, worrying and of course lots of sleepless nights! No matter how much research you do, nothing can really prepare you for a baby until they’re here. Some items I thought ... (Read more)
This weeks post I am reviewing Aisha’s Breaded Chicken Goujon because it’s halal. Also, I wanted to talk about halal food available in supermarkets that end up taking up a lot of space in Asian freezers…freezer number 2 that is.
Since moving to Birmingham, I have been fortunate to have more halal options available to me. Down South in my parent’s little peaceful village, the nearest Asian foodstore was a 7.7 mile drive (according to google maps). To be honest, us Asian’s living in these type of areas have got used to it. We buy in bulk thus the freezer ... (Read more)
I am back to review one of the favourite foods in this nation. No, it’s not curry, although that is a favourite too. It’s battered fish! More specifically I am reviewing Lidls Deluxe 2 Jumbo Battered Cod Fillets. Why you ask. Because people need answers and I am here to provide those answers!
So getting straight into it. I want to talk about the price. It’s expensive, really expensive. These 2 Cod Fillets cost £3.19. I still shed a tear when I think about it. But Mrs Reviews wanted some good quality fish for dinner. She never really asks for ... (Read more)
I’ve always loved to read. In fact, when I was in my penultimate year in high school, I was presented with an award in front of my peers and friends for reading the most books in the entire school – much to my teenage mortification. Now several years on, having worked with children in the education sector in various formats, I am keenly aware of the importance reading makes to a child’s development across all aspects. So when I became a parent, I knew I wanted to incorporate reading from as early as possible, even if he didn’t understand me ... (Read more)
How cool and hipster is Halloumi right now? It’s probably one of the trendiest and versatile foods out there. I have seen it used in so many different types of dishes. So I was surprised and not-so-surprised at the same time when I came across Aldi’s Specially Selected Halloumi Fries. It was instantly in the trolley because I had to try it. I did double-check the price of course!
Halloumi can be used in dishes in many ways. I once came across a menu where the vegetarian options were halloumi burger, halloumi chips and halloumi salad. At work, we have ... (Read more)

If you are anything like us, then you probably assume it’s expensive to shop in Waitrose. Being a young family, we don’t often do a full shop there and mostly shop at Aldi or Lidl which are close to us and also great for budget shopping.
When we do shop in Waitrose, it’s mainly for Baby Reviews because we want him to enjoy organic fruit and vegetables and our local Waitrose has a pretty good selection. However, we do usually end up buying a few things for ourselves as evident from our first review. But we never thought ... (Read more)
Anyone else find that going shopping makes them get pretty hungry? That’s my reason behind purchasing this little item during a grocery shop on a rainy Friday evening. As I wandered down the aisles, my eyes ravenously scoured the shelves, looking for something to satisfy my craving quickly enough when we got home before I entered full-on ‘hangry’ mode.
I decided to settle on this vegetarian pie from Aldi’s chilled section. It is actually much smaller than it appears in the photo. Approximately hand-size and only needed about 10 minutes in an oven to be heated up and ready.
I’ll ... (Read more)
This post is more of a recommendation then review for all my bearded fellows. It’s funny but I feel like I have an instant connection when I see someone else with a beard. Normally it comes with me giving a slight nod of approval like we are members of a secret beard club. Even my son only trusts going to men with a beard. If you are clean-shaven then he stares you out until you feel like confessing a past crime!
Now we all know having a beard is a commitment in itself. It’s kind of similar to getting a ... (Read more)
How’s your week going, readers? I thought I’d try to start a short series of posts trying and reviewing things I’ve bought off Instagram adverts. I’m sure there are people who know much more about all the algorithms that social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook and youtube use to figure out what demographic you belong to and as such what products you may be interested in purchasing.
I do think it’s pretty cool that the adverts are tailored based on who you follow and the content you consume so no two people are guaranteed the same adverts. I would ... (Read more)
I am not sure if I would see the day I would be eating meat-free nuggets. But here I am…eating meat-free nuggets.
The whole taking meat foods and making it plant-based is the new craze. Supermarkets are on the express meat-free producing bandwagon right now. Vegan burgers have also become very trendy and you can even buy things like impossible burgers in shops. Now I am all for crazy new food inventions and will be definitely diving into these products with Mrs Reviews. But I wanted to review one of the first meat-free products I came across which is Quorn. ... (Read more)
If I had to list my Top 3 favourite food groups, it would probably go something like Number 3: Eggs, Number 2: Rice and Number 1: Potato. I love the humble potato in all the many forms it comes in, mashed, crisps, baked and of course in chip form too. If I had to pick a meal off a menu, I’m pretty fine so as long as there are some chips on the side.
So, my authority on the issue now established, you will see now why it only seemed right that I take the lead on reviewing these chunky ... (Read more)
Okay please proceed with reading this post with caution if you have a sweet tooth. This review we are indulging ourselves into Lidl’s Deluxe 2 Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake. We picked this up on offer for £1.39 when we were really in need of small dessert to accompany our Saturday night meal.
Straight off the bat, this looks almost identically similar to the Gu Cheescake products which I and my family are a very big fan of. This Lidl version is much cheaper compared to the Gu’s at less than 70p per pot so I was happy with the purchase (and ... (Read more)
I’ve always been a lover of international foods and cuisines. It’s been a bit of a dream of mine to travel to different countries around the world, and though I can’t really say that I’ve achieved that dream thus far, I do feel that by trying different cuisines you can get a sense of different cultures without having to step out of your home.
For a long time, I loved to explore Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods but since marrying Mr Reviews a few years ago, I’ve been cooking a lot more East Asian foods, as it is one of ... (Read more)
Becoming a parent has definitely been the single most life-changing experience of my life and like many people, before my baby came along, I made sure to carefully look into all baby items before purchasing them. In my research, I learnt of many new gadgets and items that I had never heard of before, despite being an Aunt to many nephews and nieces. One of those things were bedside cribs or co-sleepers which many mothers touted as a must-have necessity.
I’d only ever known of a Moses Basket before as a sleeping option for newborns but I was never really a ... (Read more)
I have a love/ hate relationship with grocery shopping. Sometimes the worst feeling on a Friday evening is knowing you have to make a weekend trip to the Supermarket. If you do it Saturday it feels like you not using that time to do something enjoyable. If you go Sunday then that’s eating up your rest day. But other times I like it, especially when I know we will be picking up some ingredients (and some dessert) for a Saturday night meal. Then there are times I come across something that makes me want to do cartwheels. What might make ... (Read more)

It’s only recently I have discovered the new market of the dairy-free/ plant-based milk. It’s getting more and more popular for lots of reasons apart from being a vegan product. So I am excited to review the Oatly Oat Drink – Barista Edition because it’s taste really good in anything…apart from coffee.
As I grow older, my milk intake has decreased drastically. I tend to find myself falling sick after having milk, especially in the winter. I don’t know the exact cause but I think dairy makes me develop colds. So I have taken some interest in dairy-free milk 2 ... (Read more)
