Raising kids is a messy job. I’ve never thought myself to be a clean freak, but ever since the birth of my children, the sight of strewn food, clothes or toys has the ability to make my temple throb. The worst of it is the food. Ever since we started weaning our firstborn, there has been an ever-growing occurrence of crumbs and food particles in the most unlikely of places.
For the longest time, we made do with cheapy vacuums. We used to have a VonHaus stick vacuum which did a good job for a year before it fell apart. ... (Read more)
There’s been a big increase in recent years of street food style eateries serving traditional Asian chai and nashta (tea and snacks). Chaiwala is perhaps the most well-known example with many branches across the UK and new independent places often mirroring their example. The Karak chai is the signature drink offered at Chaiiwala and similar stores.
Karak chai is a traditional Asian style tea made with Indian spices and milk. It is brewed on the stove for a long time making the tea stronger, creamy and sweet with a tinge of cardamom and ginger. It’s really delicious.
I’m an Asian ... (Read more)
We’ve got a nice growing collection of cleaning product reviews on the website here. If you’ve read my previous posts on the popular Method products, you may know that motherhood has spurred me to purchase more eco-friendly and less toxic and chemical-laden cleaning products.
Like a lot of people, we’ve always tended to use Fairy washing up liquid. It’s that bog standard option that we never really question. I have tried cheaper options in the past and they never clean as well or last as long. Fairy really does get the job done and is usually always on offer ... (Read more)
Hi, all, it’s Mrs Reviews back again from the rabbit hole that is life with 2 under 2’s. Chronically tired, forever multi-tasking, and usually covered in baby sick or toddler food stains. Lovely! I’m here today reviewing another baby product as promised in my last post.
This time I’m reviewing the Graco All soother. As mentioned in my last post, having learned the hard way with my first son, with this baby I wanted to be prepared for another possible velcro baby with lots of different soothers. We had a rough patch a few weeks ago during a developmental leap ... (Read more)
This is going to be a rather awkward post. I am not going lie it’s going to be super awkward, maybe a little cringe. I don’t have much of a intro becuase I am going to doing my first Instagram made me buy it post and review the Hygie Cup. This product is used in the bathroom where you fill it with water to clean your private parts…(I can’t believe I am doing this!)
Okay let’s get serious. As Muslims we must keep ourself clean at all times so we can adhere to the 5 daily prayers. This means we ... (Read more)
Hi readers, it’s Mrs Reviews here back after a very long hiatus! If you read our latest update then you would know that this was due to the fact that I was just a tad busy having Baby Reviews No. 2. During the end of the pregnancy, I was just too exhausted to summon the mental energy to write anything worthwhile and the Lockdown situation in the UK didn’t really help in making me feel very inspired. But, I am back now post-partum feeling re-energised – and I’ve got a lot more baby products I want to talk about too!... (Read more)
Hello everyone! Mr Reviews here and back after a lengthy absence. I just wanted to write a post to give an update on this website as so much has happened (yes coronavirus is one of them) since the last review. Also, this will feel like a little tune-up post before we start publishing reviews again, you know, to get back in the groove of things.
Now first little announcement is that we have had a new addition to the family! Our second son was born towards the back end of April on the 3rd day of Ramadhan. Both baby and ... (Read more)
I will be honest, this January has been the exact same January as all the previous January’s. The only exception being we now have Vegenaury. However, this also means trying more Vegan/ Vegetarian food (shout out to all Vegetarians, I have not forgotten you) because it’s the talk of the whole country right now. But that shouldn’t stop us from trying some vegetarian burgers which I am fond of. This review will be covering Mae’s Kitchen Vegetarian 2 Superfood Burgers available in Aldi’s.
Before I start, I have had some mixed opinions on plant-based foods thus far. I have ... (Read more)
One of the exciting milestones we waited for with our son was when he would finally be able to taste food. We followed current guidance from medical boards, such as the NHS and waited until 6 months to start weaning. In true First-Time-Mum fashion, I spent weeks and weeks researching the best first foods for babies, good recipes and combinations to try all in a bid to give him the best nutritional start in life and to try and foster a good relationship with food. I decided to go with traditional weaning with a little bit of finger foods here ... (Read more)
I’ve raved on this blog previously about how much I loved the Shnuggle bath. It was an absolute game changer for me as baby bath time was something I had been unreasonably nervous about whilst I was pregnant. I had seen many a family member precariously supporting a newborn baby’s head and neck whilst bathing them. Even older babies would slip unless very carefully supported. However with the Shnuggle bath, I felt confident bathing our son right from the newborn stage. The more inclined positioning of the bath meant he could sit up himself from birth with just a little ... (Read more)
If I had to list my Top 3 favourite food groups, it would probably go something like Number 3: Eggs, Number 2: Rice and Number 1: Potato. I love the humble potato in all the many forms it comes in, mashed, crisps, baked and of course in chip form too. If I had to pick a meal off a menu, I’m pretty fine so as long as there are some chips on the side.
So, my authority on the issue now established, you will see now why it only seemed right that I take the lead on reviewing these chunky ... (Read more)
I’ve always been a lover of international foods and cuisines. It’s been a bit of a dream of mine to travel to different countries around the world, and though I can’t really say that I’ve achieved that dream thus far, I do feel that by trying different cuisines you can get a sense of different cultures without having to step out of your home.Â
For a long time, I loved to explore Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods but since marrying Mr Reviews a few years ago, I’ve been cooking a lot more East Asian foods, as it is one of ... (Read more)
Okay please proceed with reading this post with caution if you have a sweet tooth. This review we are indulging ourselves into Lidl’s Deluxe 2 Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake. We picked this up on offer for £1.39 when we were really in need of small dessert to accompany our Saturday night meal.
Straight off the bat, this looks almost identically similar to the Gu Cheescake products which I and my family are a very big fan of. This Lidl version is much cheaper compared to the Gu’s at less than 70p per pot so I was happy with the purchase (and ... (Read more)
Becoming a parent has definitely been the single most life-changing experience of my life and like many people, before my baby came along, I made sure to carefully look into all baby items before purchasing them. In my research, I learnt of many new gadgets and items that I had never heard of before, despite being an Aunt to many nephews and nieces. One of those things were bedside cribs or co-sleepers which many mothers touted as a must-have necessity.
I’d only ever known of a Moses Basket before as a sleeping option for newborns but I was never really a ... (Read more)
I have a love/ hate relationship with grocery shopping. Sometimes the worst feeling on a Friday evening is knowing you have to make a weekend trip to the Supermarket. If you do it Saturday it feels like you not using that time to do something enjoyable. If you go Sunday then that’s eating up your rest day. But other times I like it, especially when I know we will be picking up some ingredients (and some dessert) for a Saturday night meal. Then there are times I come across something that makes me want to do cartwheels. What might make ... (Read more)
I am back to review one of the favourite foods in this nation. No, it’s not curry, although that is a favourite too. It’s battered fish! More specifically I am reviewing Lidls Deluxe 2 Jumbo Battered Cod Fillets. Why you ask. Because people need answers and I am here to provide those answers!
So getting straight into it. I want to talk about the price. It’s expensive, really expensive. These 2 Cod Fillets cost £3.19. I still shed a tear when I think about it. But Mrs Reviews wanted some good quality fish for dinner. She never really asks for ... (Read more)
It’s only recently I have discovered the new market of the dairy-free/ plant-based milk. It’s getting more and more popular for lots of reasons apart from being a vegan product. So I am excited to review the Oatly Oat Drink – Barista Edition because it’s taste really good in anything…apart from coffee.Â
As I grow older, my milk intake has decreased drastically. I tend to find myself falling sick after having milk, especially in the winter. I don’t know the exact cause but I think dairy makes me develop colds. So I have taken some interest in dairy-free milk 2 ... (Read more)

I am not sure if I would see the day I would be eating meat-free nuggets. But here I am…eating meat-free nuggets.
The whole taking meat foods and making it plant-based is the new craze. Supermarkets are on the express meat-free producing bandwagon right now. Vegan burgers have also become very trendy and you can even buy things like impossible burgers in shops. Now I am all for crazy new food inventions and will be definitely diving into these products with Mrs Reviews. But I wanted to review one of the first meat-free products I came across which is Quorn. ... (Read more)
